World Motorsport Symposium - Oxford 2011

With keynote speakers Martin Whitmarsh, CEO McLaren Racing and Chairman, Formula One Teams Association, Lord Drayson, team owner, setting the scenes on two days, MET/engineering was involved with motorsport industry's most influential decision makers, engineers and executives who will discussing how motorsport industry can survive.

The 6th RACE TECH WORLD MOTORSPORT SYMPOSIUM kicks off "International Motorsport Business Week" Motorsport Valley (Oxfordshire) with the Aerodynamics/Vehicle Dynamics on Monday, 10th January and the Racing Engine Technology Day on Tuesday, 11th January.

As is now customary, the special networking Awards Dinner is on the evening of the first day. Once again Oxford Brookes University has hosted the event, one of the highlights in the motorsport engineer's diary.

In evidence the important contributes of Pat Symonds (Neutrino Dynamics), Gilles Simon (FIA Powertrain) and Roger Allen (Mountune Racing), as well Martin Whitmarsh, Ulrich Baretzky (Audi Sport Engine Development) and John Iley (Head of Aerodynamics, McLaren Mercedes).

On the engine day, it was underlined how is mandatory to reduce CO2 pollution by downsizing the engines, increase their efficiency with the turbo and compensate performance by energy recover and storage. Also covered by the experts was the need to increase interest and popularity for Formula One, by comparing with succesfull NASCAR example.
